The air was crisp, the snow gently falling, and the spirit of the season was alive and well at Lake Tahoe School’s recent Winter Market. This festive evening transformed our campus into a winter wonderland, brimming with holiday cheer and community spirit.
The market was a resounding success, showcasing the talents and creativity of both our students and the vibrant local businesses that surround us.
A Student-Run Sensation:
Our young entrepreneurs took center stage, dazzling attendees with their ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit. The student market was a vibrant hub of activity, featuring an array of homemade crafts, from charming ornaments and festive decorations to delicious baked goods and unique handcrafted gifts.
Supporting Local and Celebrating Learning:
Beyond the student market, the evening offered a delightful array of opportunities. Local small businesses set up shop, showcasing their unique wares and adding to the festive atmosphere. Our scholastic book fair was a hit, inspiring a love of reading in young minds.
A Community Effort:
The success of the Winter Market was truly a testament to the incredible support of our school community. Parents and community members generously donated a plethora of beautiful baskets for our raffle, further enriching the festivities and supporting our school. Student artwork was on display in our silent art auction. These efforts raised over $17,000 for the Lake Tahoe School Tuition Assistance program.
Entertainment Galore:
The evening was filled with delightful entertainment. Our talented Lake Tahoe School choir and the Dartmouth Decibelles serenaded the crowd with heartwarming holiday tunes, filling the air with festive melodies. And of course, no winter market would be complete without a visit from the jolly old elf himself – Santa Claus!
Supporting Local Non-Profits:
The Winter Market also served as a platform to support several local non-profit organizations. The Tahoe Family Solutions Giving Tree was adorned with ornaments that carried Christmas wishes for needy families in our area. Attendees had the opportunity to choose an ornament and fulfill the Christmas wish, spreading joy and generosity throughout the community.
Furthermore, a group of LTS alumni dedicated their efforts to raising funds for their GivePower trip, where they aim to bring sustainable energy to the community of Jurubira, Colombia.
A Night to Remember:
Lake Tahoe School’s Winter Market was more than just a fundraiser; it was a celebration of community, creativity, and the spirit of the season. It provided a valuable platform for our students to learn about entrepreneurship and showcase their talents, while also supporting local businesses and fostering a deeper sense of community within our school.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this magical evening. From our talented students and dedicated teachers to our generous parents and community members, your support made the Winter Market an unforgettable experience for all.
