The Lake Tahoe School Bobcats once again demonstrated their investing skills by having 4 teams place in the top 20 in the middle school division, with one team placing 9th overall out of over 400 high school and middle school teams in the NV Stock Market Game (SMG). Over the past three months, algebra and geometry students learned stock market basics by electronically trading $100,000 virtual dollars on the SMG platform, where they could trade stocks (long or short), bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs. The team of Lachlan, Oliver, Grayson, and Enzo finished in 4th place out of over 100 middle school teams and outperformed the S&P 500 by 15% since January, with Nvidia (NVDA) and a short MicroCloud Hologram (HOLO) trade being their best-performing stocks.
The “NY Stock Exchangers” team of Liam, Nate, Emily, and Max came in 10th place in the middle school division, followed by the “Stockers” team of Sawyer, Jax, Ariel, and Artyom in 13th place. Their classmates Stellan, Darya, and Zak finished in 20th place and outperformed the market by almost 3%.
The Stock Market Game is organized by the Nevada Council on Economic Education and the SIFMA Foundation and is a highlight of the year for our middle school students. LTS has won the contest twice over the past ten years and consistently places in the top ten statewide.
Congratulations to all our students for competing in the contest and expanding their learning. GO BOBCATS!
