Congratulations to LTS Geography Bee finalists Sabrina Ottaway (LTS ’20), Ivy Batmale (LTS ’19), and Nicholas Patrick (LTS ’18)! These three Bobcats were the last left standing on the world stage at our Jan 24th Geography Bee.
Class winners have the opportunity to compete for a place at the statewide competition held later in the spring. The state winner will compete in Washington D.C in May.
“LTS entered the competition for the first time last year and gained some valuable insight into how the competition works and some good study techniques,” said LTS Teacher Ms. Stephanie Mancuso.
Sixth Graders continue to enrich and supplement their literature studies this year with both human and physical geography. This addition to their literature studies encourages students to understand and identify their place in the world.
Students begin to develop a global awareness of conditions in other locations and their connections with those places, learning about the land, climate, economy, politics, and culture of other regions. This knowledge will help them live in an increasingly interconnected world.
