Brenna Ritchie, Lake Tahoe School 8th grader, recently competed in the Alpine Ski Racing Western Regional Championships in Jackson Hole, WY. Skiing against a field of the sixty best racers in her age group from CA, NV, OR, WA, ID, UT, WY, and AK, and falling at the younger end of the age bracket for this year, Brenna notched some impressive results for LTS and Squaw Valley Ski Team.
Racers start in rank with the goal of finishing better than their starting position. Below are Brenna’s starting positions and her finishes for the week:
Super G: Start – 41 -> Finish – 33rd
Giant Slalom: Start – 57 -> Finish – 28th
Slalom: Start – 38 -> Finish – 18th
The LTS community is very proud of Brenna, who capped off her week of ski racing by free skiing Corbet’s Couloir, the toughest in-bounds run in North America. Go, Brenna!
Lake Tahoe School this year formalized and expanded its already well-developed program of studies designed to support the on-snow training needs of the competitive ski racer. Our LTS Skier’s Edge program has led to an influx of ski enthusiasts from the Bay Area, and some noteworthy success on the bigger stages of ski racing.
