The Bobcat Nordic ski team finished up their season with the CNISSF state championship race on Saturday, March 2nd, at the Auburn Ski Club. With two racers finishing in the top 10 in both the boys and girls middle school divisions and multiple personal best performances in the final race of the season, the Bobcat skiers certainly saved their best for last.
The middle school boys team finished 5th overall with the top four skiers of Maksim Alexandrov 6th, Noah McMahan 18th, Luc Casini 21st, and Harrison Fung 45th. For the first time ever in the history of the Lake Tahoe School Nordic program, the middle school girls team took 4th overall at championships. Lainey Lowden led the charge with an 8th place finish, followed by Maddie Patrick 34th, Kylie Reeth 48th, and Olive Hamner-Jillson in 49th place.
Coach Jon Cooper was thrilled with his team’s performance, “This year’s team was an exceptionally fun, energetic and hardworking group of young athletes”. Coach Jon added, “While we will certainly miss our 8th graders next year, the Bobcat nordic team’s future looks bright with eighteen of the twenty-five skiers returning for the 2019-20 season.”
