While snowflakes danced outside and holiday lights twinkled across Lake Tahoe, the spirit of giving truly ignited within Lake Tahoe School. This holiday season wasn’t just about presents under the tree – it was about making a difference for those in need within our community. And oh, did our community ever deliver!
Collecting Food and Donations for Sierra Community House: Our student council collected hundreds of physical food items to be distributed to those in need in our community. They also raised funds for SCH through a virtual food drive.
Giving Tree for Big Brothers Big Sisters: At our Giving Tuesday celebration, the school hosted a giving tree for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Sierra. Our community took all the ornaments off the tree with them, and returned with the fulfilled wishes of children in need.
FISH: Middle school students headed down to Carson City where they helped Friends in Service Helping (FISH) sort food that had been donated. FISH always sees a huge influx of food donations during the holiday season, so there was plenty for our students to do.
Tahoe Family Solutions Giving Tree: The season ended with the Tahoe Family Solutions Giving Tree. Our community went out and fulfilled all the Christmas wishes of those in need in our own Tahoe community. We didn’t stop there – the student council then wrapped each and every gift. The Lake Tahoe School lobby was filled with brightly colored packages to go out to local families.
We are grateful for our community’s generosity and willingness to help those in need. Have a safe and wonderful New Year!
