Another fantastic year has drawn to a close at Lake Tahoe School, and with it came a whirlwind of cherished traditions – both old and new! From the wide-eyed wonder of kindergartners to the adventurous spirit of our 8th graders, all of our Bobcats participated in end-of-year activities that created lasting memories.
Lower School Adventures:
- Kindergarten, here we come! Our PreK graduation celebrated our youngest learners with a send-off that included musical numbers and tiny graduation caps!
- Our young kindergarten explorers embarked on a magical journey during a student-led nature walk with their grown-ups. It was a delightful experience for families to witness their children’s research firsthand and see the wonders of nature through their children’s eyes.
- First-grade students nurtured a sense of community and teamwork through their classroom “campout,” where their desks were transformed overnight into a campground. They bonded through fun activities, reading, and games, creating memories that will carry them throughout the year!
- Pitching tents under the stars is a rite of passage for our second graders during their exciting overnight campout. This experience fostered independence, camaraderie, and a love for the outdoors.
- Our fifth graders got ready for a tidal wave of knowledge on their hands-on science field trip to Marin County. They explored diverse ecosystems, learning about the wonders of our natural world.
- Our lower school students all experienced a step-up day in which they spent time in the classroom they will be entering next year.
- It wouldn’t be a Lake Tahoe School education without a walk to the beach! Our lower school students trekked to Incline Beach for a day of fun in the sun to commence the start of summer.
Middle School Memories:
- Middle schoolers buckled up for Adventure Week, a whirlwind of exhilarating experiences, during the first week of June. Sixth graders took on the rapids in the American River, seventh graders enjoyed the beauty of Emerald Bay while camping, and eighth graders conquered the breathtaking trails of Yosemite National Park.
- Our eighth graders celebrated their final year at Lake Tahoe School with a night to remember during their memorable and emotional school lock-in. They bonded over games, movies, and activities, creating a bittersweet farewell filled with laughter, memories, and a look towards exciting futures. They promised to keep in touch with one another, and with Lake Tahoe School – once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!
The Grand Finale: Field Day!
These cherished traditions all culminated in the glorious chaos that was Field Day last week! Here at Lake Tahoe School, all students belong to a lifelong “Bobcat Family.” From kindergarten to eighth grade, these Bobcat Families fiercely (but fairly!) competed in a series of games for the coveted Field Day trophy. As the saying goes, “if you had fun, you won,” but the true champions of field day were the Navy Blue Bobcats! Congratulations!
Field Day was a day of school spirit, teamwork, and pure fun. It served as the perfect capstone to a year of learning, growing, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what new traditions we create in the years to come at Lake Tahoe School!
