Our students enjoyed a tres magnifique performance from The Hot Club of San Francisco last week at an all-school assembly in Duffield Hall.
Five talented musicians on strings – Paul on lead guitar and the leader of the band, Evan on the violin, Jordan and Christophe on rhythm guitars, and Dexter on string bass – performed music in the style of “Gypsy Jazz,” or jazz manouche, bringing forth the French nomadic interpretation of American jazz music. Ranging from music originally composed by legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, to the classic “All My Lovin’” by the Beatles, The Hot Club had all of our Lake Tahoe School students snapping and clapping along!
Thank you to Leslie Hamner and the Parent Association for organizing the assembly, as well as Arts For The Schools for bringing a little jazz manouche to Lake Tahoe School!
