Last Friday was anything but ordinary at Lake Tahoe School! Our K-5th graders were treated to an unforgettable STEM experience thanks to the amazing team at Sub Zero Presentation. They brought their super cool – literally -321° F – science show right to our doorstep, and Duffield Hall came alive with the excited squeals of our Lower School students. Our students were captivated as they learned about liquid nitrogen and its unique properties firsthand. Getting sprayed by the mist from the tank and exploding clouds of vapor definitely added a touch of magic to the learning!
But the real showstopper? The grand finale: making fresh, delicious ice cream using the power of science! You could feel the anticipation building as the Sub Zero team explained the science behind the rapid freezing process. And then, the moment everyone had been waiting for – each student got to enjoy a scoop of ice cream made in seconds right before their eyes!
More than just a cool demonstration (pun intended!), Sub Zero Presentation’s visit was truly inspiring. They have a clear mission: to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math in young minds. By making learning interactive and fun, they’re helping to shape the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. Seeing the wonder and curiosity on our students’ faces as they explored the wonders of liquid nitrogen was truly heartwarming.
This presentation was definitely an experience our students won’t soon forget. A huge thank you to Sub Zero for bringing their incredible STEM program to Lake Tahoe School. You’ve not only taught our students about the wonders of science but also made it an absolute blast! We can’t wait to see the ripple effect of this inspiring visit and the future scientists it may have sparked!
